Lichfield City succumbed to a four-goal defeat against second-place Brocton in a top of the table clash.
A Will Whieldon brace was accompanied by goals from Jude King and captain Connor Haddaway to defeat Lichfield in a super performance at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium.
Whieldon opened the scoring for Brocton in the 21st minute and poked home into an empty net to give the away side an early lead.
Brocton were then awarded a penalty in the 32nd minute as a green shirt went down during a break into the area, but Lichfield stopper Beeson denied visiting captain Haddaway from the spot.
However, the Brocton skipper then curled the ball in at the far post from the resulting corner to remedy the missed spot-kick and double his side’s lead.
Dan Lomas had an effort saved from close range by Tony Allsop soon after, as the hosts looked for a way back into the game, butJamie Elkes brought down Greenbirch inside the area to give Brocton yet another penalty.
Whieldon struck his second past Beeson to increase the deficit to three goals going into the interval.
Two minutes into the new half, Joe Haines tried to beat the keeper from range after spotting him off his line, but the Cityveteran struck just too hard and hit the roof of the net.
Lichfield’s search for a foothold back in the game was soon cut short though as the visitors found their fourth.
Jude King’s attempted knock around rushing Beeson, beat the keeper and the retreating centre-half and rolled into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal.Â
Substitute Jude Taylor nodded wide from a corner with 15 minutes to go, but the scoreline remained 4-0 as the referee blew for full time.
